Puberty refers to the bodily changes of sexual maturation rather than the social and cultural aspects of adolescent development. Adolescence is the linking period between childhood and adulthood. In case of female the monthly discharge of blood from the uterus starts from puberty and continues till menopause. The first occurrence of menstruation in a woman is known as menarche. It starts from the age of 10-12 years. In some cases the time may vary. If menstrual cycle starts quickly then there is an effect in the development of bone leading to short height. In case periods start before 10 years and along with that development of breasts and pubic hair takes place then it is termed as precaution puberty.

Symptoms of premature menstruation

1. Early onset of menstruation cycle.

2. Heavy flow

3. Continuation of periods for 10-15 days or more.

4. Abdominal pain

5. Nausea

6. Loss of appetite

7. Weakness

8. Depression

Puberty menorrhagia

Generally, young age girls use to have heavy periods. Normally it occurs for 3-4 days, but in some cases it extends upto 8-10 days or more resulting to anemia with the symptoms of pale face. The main causes of heavy periods are difference in the level of estrogen hormone, improper discharge of ovules from ovary and difference in the endometrium layer. The effect of thyroid gland and ovary are also responsible for heavy periods.
