from  Piles
, Fissure and Fistula

Follow These Ten,
To Overcome Pain

 Hot and Cold Compression Therapy

Using heat therapies for Piles Treatment can help to reduce inflammation. The hot and cold sensation relaxes the nerves that trigger the pain signal to the brain. Applying heat to tissues increases circulation or blood flow and causes connective tissues to become more flexible. It gives temporary but welcome relief.

The required time for this hot and cold compress is only 20 minutes, but it can be used more often if needed until swelling and pain diminish. You need to observe a two to four hours interval before using the same therapy again.

Hip Bath or Sitz Baths

Warm Hip Bath or Sitz Baths relieves discomfort and pain of piles or hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and rectal surgery by reducing associated itching, pain and discomfort.

A large basin or tub can be filled with 3 to 4 inches of hot water of about 43 °C, and sat in for 15–20 minutes or until the water cools down.  Specially built devices that fit into toilet bowls are also available for Sitz baths. Some people find that alternating three to five times between a hot bath for 3–4 minutes and an ice-cold bath for 30–60 seconds is soothing. A towel soaked in cold water can be used in place of a cold bath.

Massage and Ointments

Massage techniques like pressing, pushing, friction, vibration and sensation can be applied to soothe the acute pain. Gently and mildly press the anal sphincter muscle on rectum orifice with finger tip lubricated with slippery cream like Vaseline, petroleum jelly or medicated cream like Pilex or Ayurvedic ointments or oil.

Massage Techniques: Acupressure, Reflex Zone, and Shiatsu massage are also helpful for Piles Treatment and pain relief.

Ayurvedic Potli Therapy

Podikizhi  is a massage which induces therapeutic sweating. The body is thoroughly massaged with linen bags containing Ayurvedic herbal ingredients in powdered form.  In this therapy, several types of grains like horse gram, sesame seeds, black gram and other curative ingredients are powdered, fried and tied up in linen bundles.

Potli/kizhi is a massage which uses small herbal pouches made of various herbs which are warmed in medicated oils. They are then used to massage the specific areas for Piles treatment. The herbal leaves put in the potli have an anti-inflammatory effect on the body. When they are dipped in hot oil they open the channels of lympahatic nodes, making your body feel relaxed.
